I Shouldn’t Be Alive

First Date Nightmare

Darlow Smithson Productions (1 x 1 hour for Discovery AP)

The sister film to ‘Avalanche’ and widely considered one of the ISBA greats.

In 2004, professional climbers Rachel Kelsey and Jeremy Colenso spent their first date scaling the mighty Piz Badile in Switzerland. But mere meters from the summit, the couple became trapped in the biggest electrical storm in the regions history.

After an aborted descent, they huddled together in a flimsy nylon shelter on a precarious ledge where their survival was entirely reliant on each other. And as the temperature plummets and hypothermia and frostbite set in, a truly remarkable love story unfolded. A wonderful and life affirming story.
